The First Heart Transplant

“My career has been long and varied. I completed my education to become a registered nurse and midwife at Groot Schuur Hospital, Cape Town South Africa. Then spent some time working in London, before going to Canada where I worked at a Cancer Research Hospital in the paediatric section. On returning to South Africa I returned to the Coronary Care Unit where I had worked before. Three years after the first heart transplant we moved to Durban. On arrival in Australia I became a nurse educator and continued to study, to Master’s Degree inEducation.”
